There was a once in a lifetime event today

This is my usual view of the amazing George Washington Bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges in the world

But TODAY!! it was the setting for a once in a lifetime experiences.  The Space Shuttle Enterprise came to New York, on the back of a 747, and in addition to the Statue of Liberty, Lower Manhattan and all the landmarks downtown

the shuttle paid a visit to the George Washington Bridge and Upper Manhattan.  It flew really low over the bridge and the river.

There were a lot of people from the neighborhood out to watch as it flew north up the river and then, to our delight

It turned around and came back South even lower

It said goodbye to the bridge and went on to land at JFK.  There will be more shuttle transport when it comes up the river to the Intrepid Museum this summer, but to see it in the air over New York was truly breathtaking.

My goodness...I just went "wow" and someone not too far from here said "yes, I know...I already commented".

So I'll say Wow again. Just to go one step further ;-)

Amazing. What a wonderful sight.
